Cougars, Scarlets swimmers headed to state

The boys swimming and diving teams from Mankato East/Loyola and West have qualified for the Class A State True Team Meet as wildcards.

The East/Loyola Cougars finished third in their true team section meet Saturday while the West Scarlets placed fourth. The top two teams in the section automatically qualify for state and the two Mankato teams were notified on Sunday that they had also been selected.

East/Loyola is currently ranked fourth in Class A while West is rated seventh. This year's true team state meet begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, and will again be held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
